WAEC Releases Results, Announcing Mass Failure

The Head of National Office (HNO) of the West African Examination Council (WAEC), Dr. Iyi Uwadiae has disclosed while announcing the release of the May/June 2011 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) that “this year like other years, the candidates have not done well.

Announcing the result a while ago at Abeokuta, Dr. Uwadiae said merely 31 per cent (that is, 472, 906 candidates) made five credits including English Language and Mathematics out of the total of 1, 540, 250 candidates nationwide who took the examination.
It could be recalled that last year, only 23 per cent made the required five credits including English Language and Mathematics for admission into higher institutions.
